Well, it looks like we have sold the house. A Chinese couple, older, no kids, have bought our 7 bedroom, two family room house. Seems a bit of a waste of all that space for just 2 people, but I guess I shouldn’t care–it’s SOLD.
It was a bit of a tough negotiation. They came in a lot under our asking price, and then asked for come concessions. We countered, they countered, we dug in our heels for 24 hours, then, after some advice from a neutral RE agent, we took the offer. Unfortunately, it is a buyer’s market right now with almost 900 homes for sale just in our town, and these people knew it. They had lots of other homes to choose from. We weren’t desperate, but we really did need to get it sold. They want us out by Aug. 15.
Wow, it hasn’t really sunk in yet that we are moving in a little over a month. We have no place to move to, yet. The rental market is a lot smaller where we are moving to. 3 of the rentals I called on today are already rented. We may have to opt for a condo; our 28 ft. trailer and boat will have to be stored somewhere, along with alot of our stuff.
The packing has begun. This is the part that I HATE. All that stuff in the tops of closets and cupboards that hasn’t been used in years is being gone through and either packed or junked. All the old videos are packed as well as a lot of our books. I can take down all the pictures and mirror and such. I have been thinking about it, and after mentally reviewing all the places we have stuff in the house, I don’t think it is going to be as nasty as I thought. It’s still a pain, tho’.
Going to be a busy, sad, somewhat painful month…
